What the scholarship meant for you

It was such an honour to be the Isaac Scholar during my Master's degree at UC. I found it inspiring and motivating to be supported by a Trust with values that align so closely with my own. The financial support allowed me to focus entirely on my research without juggling part-time work, and this undoubtedly contributed to me completing a thesis (and eventually a peer-reviewed publication; ) that to this day I am very proud of.

Its impact on your career

My time as the Isaac Scholar definitely acted as a springboard for my career. It gave me the opportunity to strive for excellence in my research and confirmed for me the importance of conducting research with practical applications without compromising on quality. It also gave me the confidence to dream big and apply for other scholarships and grants during my doctoral research, including a one-month research visit to Universit茅 Grenoble Alpes (France) with my young family.听

What you are doing now

I am now a postdoctoral researcher at UC investigating the non-carbon benefits of planting trees in agricultural landscapes, and the spatial processes that underpin the delivery of these benefits to communities. When I'm not running code, you'll find me meandering in nature, instilling in my son and daughter those same values the Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust solidified in me.
